Scheduled opposite NBC's Unsolved Mysteries and ABC's Growing Pains on Wednesdays, Hard Time on Planet Earth ranked 65th out of 81 programs upon its premiere. Ratings for the series never improved and the series was canceled by CBS in May 1989. The last episode aired on June 21, 1989.

She moved to New York City while she was in her 20's, and appeared in a number of Bob Fosse productions. Her film debut was in his film All That Jazz (1979). She is best known for her role as Valeria in the film Conan the Barbarian, for which she won a Golden Globe and a Saturn Award.
