In a small Chinese town some years ago, two childhood friends contend with the harsh realities of a nation drastically transitioning from Socialism to Market Economy. A young boy looking for guidance accidentally gets entangled with local hoodlums. His neighbor and classmate, a decent young girl, tries her best to help him with his studies while staying afloat amid the chaos of modernization herself. They dream of a future where they can both leave the confines of their town, but an unexpected accident redirects their fates to something else entirely.
A speed skating girl crosses paths with the ice hockey god of their school. Despite starting off on the wrong foot, they start on a journey to chase after their dreams. During elementary school, the timid and cowardly Li Yu Bing had to endure his seatmate Tang Xue's constant bullying. Even so, they share one thing in common, a dream on the ice. When they meet again at Lin Da University, Li Yu Bing has become the school's ice god while Tang Xue's future remains hazy. Li Yu Bing pulls a few strings to turn Tang Xue into his helper with the goal of getting payback for everything that she did. The more they spend time together, the more Li Yu Bing notices Tang Xue's good qualities. He realizes that his courage on ice is inspired by Tang Xue herself. In turn, he helps Tang Xue rediscover her dream in speed skating.
Yin Thirteen and Fatty Shi are good friends, and they hang out at the Maoshan bar. Yin Thirteen is pro demon catcher but nobody believes him. One day friends are invited to a woman's house where the curtains are hung tight because as soon as she opens them she feels someone strangling her. After they manage to solve this one, they are drawn into another incident. A week ago, a girl from the same school, Mu Ran, was in a car accident and her friend Lan Shan died in the accident. Her ghost seems to be full of resentment and want to drag her friends into the underworld. Thirteen and Fatty save Mu Ran, but on the way back, they encounter the young men from Fatty's village, Dai Xiong and Xiao Xiong. It was a bad feeling. In order to find out, the good brothers and Mu Ran headed towards the village where the evil spirits were roaming....
